Since no one here has said it yet, here’s your nudge! You must read the Alchemist. It’s a pretty quick and easy read but so meaningful!

If you haven’t watched the fifth season of Fargo, please do! Absolutely wild.

Also I’ve been revisiting Jeff Buckley a lot lately and your voice and current songwriting style reminds me so much of him.

Thank you! I just ordered a book called "The Midnight Library" on recomendation from a friend, but I'll put the Alchemist in my que.

I'm a big Fargo fan, both the show and the original film. I haven't heard anything about a sixth season but I really hope they bring it back.

And thank you so much re: the Buckley compliment. I had a friend in college who turned me on to the Grace album, and that was really when I was just starting to figure out how to write, so maybe it's embedded in me from finding his music during my formative years. I can only hope, as he's one of the greatest who's ever done it in my opinion.

Hey there,...new subscriber that enjoys your writing.

As a weirdo who grew up attending and throwing punk shows in basements in the late 90's early 2000's, I'm curious as to who your band is/was.

Hey Gary. Thanks for reading and subscribing! It sounds like you may have been the generation before me. I was in a band called Envy on the Coast, but we didn’t really get going until around 2005. Any chance you’re from NY?

No, sorry Ryan. I’m from Northern California….Sacramento to be exact. I think you’re right about the generation before you, but it’s cool to know that the DIY basement scene is/was still alive and that you were part of it. I live in Austin, TX now and there is a punk house here that still puts on basement shows. It’s rad, but I’m obviously not as keen on going to those things because I’m old and a 40-something dude getting drunk with youngsters is weird as shit.

Rad blog, though…I’m looking forward to more stuff from your perspective.

I never did any basement shows in Austin, but I loved going through there on tours. Last place I hit down there was Mohawk Live. Such a great city. The only place we used to hit in Sacramento was a place called the Boardwalk. I had some fun shows there.

If I’m being honest, I probably played more VFW halls than basements, but it was the same type of thing. I’m not sure if it’s still alive these days but I’m thankful I experienced it.
