I’ve falsely subscribed to the idea that life is sprinkled with significant events, and that those experiences are book ended by the seemingly less momentous. My phone lies to me and tells me this is true. Everyone is taking pictures on mountain tops. They are having babies and devouring lavish meals. It must be true.
It’s not.
The blanks are the times spent waiting at LAX for my plane to arrive on a 3 hour delay. Waiting on line at Target while the woman in front of me yells at her kid.
They are the moments spent picking up my dog’s shit. Scraping the rice that I burnt from the bottom of the pot.
The blanks are the week between Christmas and New Years. My 11 minute drive home from the studio. The 47 seconds between drying off and getting dressed this morning.
The blanks are me wondering, at 8:38pm, if I’ve looked in a mirror today. They are 6:26am the next day, looking through the mirror instead of at it.
They are the years that I can’t seem to pin down. Can’t seem to figure out where they went.
They are the days I thought would look different. The ones spent looking forward and back.
The blanks are the year I spent in limbo. The year I spent working on these songs. The year I spent falling in love with my wife while losing my best friend. The year I spent in between where I was and where I am.
This is just a reminder to myself, that it’s always been happening, all around me. That while I’m looking and waiting, it’s shining and blossoming. This is just a reminder to myself. That I have the license and authority and capacity to do more than endure. This is my reminder to feel in the blanks.

This EP is very much the concoction of mine and Warren’s (my collaborator) instincts and influences blending together. It is the center of our Venn diagram in its purest form. Like most records, it serves as a time capsule and a snapshot of a unique moment, never to be replicated again.
